The functional transparency of expanded metal

Expanded metal is a material with an open form. Due to its malleability, it can be used in various applications, both architectural and industrial. The frontal opening of the mesh is measured by the percentage of frontal gap. A careful choice of the expanded metal mesh opening is one of the elements that characterises the design and functionality of the surface.

Delta Mesh - 59% frontal transparency

Transparent Metal Meshes. Striking textures.

A high frontal opening such as the Delta mesh, with a v/p of approx. 60 per cent, defines a 'very transparent' knit; it is a stretched sheet of effect, which allows a glimpse of the background.

Gate mesh - 42% frontal transparency

Semi Transparent Metal Mesh. Eclectic textures.

The Gate mesh was chosen by Studio Sanaa to create the flowing surfaces of the Bocconi Campus. it is both transparent and shading at the same time. This façade has met the challenge of sustainability and the challenge of beauty.

Ambasciata Mesh - 16% frontal transparency

Semi closed metal mess

Semi-closed metal meshes such as Ambasciata and Academy, for example, are suitable for many architectural and carpentry applications. They have a see-through effect and fit easily into all kinds of contexts.

Privacy mesh - 5% frontal transparency

Closed Metal Mesh. Maximum privacy

A frontal opening of approx. 10%, (Ref. Mesh Privacy v/p 5%) defines an almost totally opaque mesh, suitable for coverings and protections, in all those contexts where it is necessary to mask and conceal. These meshes are suitable, for example, for fences and parapets where there is a need to ensure maximum privacy. Or for protection of installations where a real access barrier needs to be created. See also Reserve and Sierra meshes (v/p 10% approx).
